Experience the Santa Barbara Zoo like never before as ZooLights returns for the holiday season, offering a spectacular after-hours display. Visitors can immerse themselves in the magic of thousands of handcrafted silk lanterns illuminated by over 50,000 LED bulbs. These vibrant displays highlight tropical habitats, wildlife, and scenes from wild landscapes around the world.
The event runs from November 13, 2024, to January 12, 2025, on select evenings from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Guests can stroll through glowing pathways, enjoying the breathtaking artistry of lanterns while savoring food and drinks available at multiple dining locations. The Wave Restaurant, Ridley Tree-House Restaurant, and The Buzz coffee and cocktail area will remain open during the event. Outside food is welcome, but alcohol is prohibited.
Pricing and Details
- Tickets are priced based on peak and non-peak dates, ranging from $24 to $34 for adults and $22 to $32 for children. Santa Barbara Zoo Members and groups of 20 or more can enjoy discounts. Children under two years old attend for free.
- Parking costs $11 per vehicle, with free parking for SB Zoo Members.
The event is held rain or shine, and tickets are non-refundable. ZooLights is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Accessibility and Accommodations The event is ADA-friendly with ECVs and wheelchairs available for rent. To ensure inclusive participation, visitors with special needs are encouraged to request accommodations in advance.
Note that ZooLights is a separate after-hours event, so guests visiting the Zoo earlier in the day will need to exit at 3:30 PM before gates reopen for the festivities. While most animals will be off exhibit during ZooLights, guests can view them during regular daytime hours.
